The Origin of Thomson Rubbers

Having observed the growth of production in the preserved latex concentrate industry and its increasing consumption in India, Mr. M.T. Thomas (Sr), who had been involved in this industry since 1975, began producing his own creamed Latex concentrate in 1983 under the name of Mannamplackal Rubber Industries, Chirakadavu, Kottayam. Following the experience gained in these activities, he concentrated on producing high quality Creamed Latex, to ensure that the product manufactured at Mannamplackal Rubber Industries would be attractive to the market. This proved a runaway success and as his regular clients introduced others, who in turn became regular clients, the demand for his production began to exceed supply. It was during this period that his sons Mr. M .T. Thomas (Jr), Mr. M.T. Mathew and Sony Thomas joined the business following their industrial studies.
The business, housed in it's own premises at Chirakadavu, had become a victim of it's own success and there was no further scope for expansion, within it's existing premises. In July 1995 a new company was formed with the following Directors.

All of them are part of the Mannamplackal family of Chirakadavu, Kanjirappally. The aims of the new company have always been to maintain and if possible enhance their enviable reputation for quality of service and products, in the supply and export of Centrifuged Latex, Creamed Latex and Skim Crepe. Their hopes and expectations being to have a growing list of totally satisfied clients.

The new factory and office building is situated at 15 acre site at Kuruvamoozhy, Erumely. Currently the factory is equipped with 12 Alfa Laval separators. As was originally planned the productive capacity of creamed latex has also been increased in line with the increased production of the other products.

The response from our clients to the production from our new factory encouraged the company to continue with it's expansion plans and works have been completed for installing 5 more Alfa Laval 610 Separators. During this period a new state of the art factory was also set up for the production of high quality Skim Crepe, to match the already established high quality of service and product established with the other lines.

Quality Control approved by Rubber Board of India & ISI "Serving the industry better" is our goal and hence quality control is an essential part of our daily activities. This means that maintaining a regime of testing at every stage of our production process, from the delivery of our raw materials to the final dispatch of our finished products. Add to this our initial purchase of high quality machinery, regularly maintained to the highest standards and you have all the requirements to support our commitment to supply quality products aimed at giving total satisfaction to all our customers. Our stringent checks on our final products is widely acclaimed as one of the best in the industry and fully approved by The Rubber Board of India and The Indian Standard Institution (ISI).

In consideration of the way we maintain the quality as well as the records, the unit has been awarded ISI Marking Facility since June 1998. We are also an ISO 9001-2000 Certified company.

All the Directors are actively involved in the business, each with his own job description, into which is written his part in maintaining the emphasis on the quality of the products and the service, thereby ensuring a continuing goodwill for the business in the marketplace. The unit is presently one of the largest suppliers in India and is now exporting to almost all the European countries, USA, China, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

As with any vibrant successful business, over the coming months, plans are being considered for expansion into other allied activities.

We consider that the key to the production of consistently high quality concentrates should be centred on the hygienic, careful selection, delivery and initial storage of the Field Latex. The Field Latex received at the Factory, has to pass our stringent laboratory tests using the following parameters.

1. The colour of the latex
2. Tests to ensure there is no evidence of putrefaction in the latex
3. DRC content
4. Ammonia content
5. VFA content
